The foundations of magic are built upon the principles of ritual action and visionary structures. The ritual actions, which include the use of sigils, altars etc are the exteriorisation of magical power patterns. The magical power flows from an 'inner' source, i.e. realms of inner consciousness often referred to as 'astral realms'. When you bring the two together with focussed intent, you have a magical act. 

The path of training begins by learning the basic structures and boundaries/laws of ritual and vision. There are many books available that detail various paths of ritual structure for a beginner but there are few that detail the same foundation steps for visionary magical work. On this page you will find audio files and text of basic structures that can help you on your path of training.

Visionary beginnings are presented here in the form of three foundation visions that represent the ancient and powerful tradition of stepping into the other worlds as part of the life work and training of a mystery magician. I did not invent these visions, these recordings are simply my version of them: they are a part of a tradition that reaches back thousands of years and echoes of these visions can be found in many different magical and spiritual historical texts.

To use these visions, wait until you are able to be alone and undisturbed. Light a candle with the intent that the flame is a sacred fire, and place it before you . Sit in an upright position so that you will not fall asleep during the vision. These recordings have been done as contacted visions, i.e. I am magically doing the visions as I speak. Because  of this there is no editing, no written preparation and no enhancements made to these visions....so they include any coughs, gulps, swallows, cat meows at the door and misspoken words!

The Vision of the Void - The first vision is of the Void and is the most powerful and yet simple vision that is used in Visionary Magic. This vision should be done daily as part of the magician's training, and later as a source of grounding, power and stability. It can act as a porthole to other astral reams and is also a place of peace and silence.

The Vision of the Great Library  should be worked with repeatedly over a long period of time so that the inner contacts and visual structure of these places open out in the conciousness of the worker. These simple ancient visions hold a great many mysteries if you are willing to work with them over a period of years. As always, the Keys to the Mysteries reveal themselves gradually to those who tread the path with a will to learn. 

The Inner Library is a foundation vision that puts the practitioner in touch with the knowledge of all those who have gone before you. It is a place of learning and of contacts who will guide you. Once you have become used to the vision, learn to do it yourself without the audio file and explore further into the library as it unfolds of you.

The Death Mysteries  take you through the basic inner steps of working in the realm of death. Below you can find an audio file vision and a text file that goes into more depth regarding the visionary aspect of working in death. 

What you 'see' in the death vision is not what a person sees upon their own death: the images are interfaces for the imagination that put you into the space and consciousness of the realm of death. It is a key vision in the Western Mysteries and brings you into confrontation with death, your own mortality and the beings that operate in this space. 

As always, once you are accustomed to working with this vision, then it is time for you to explore  this realm in more depth. It is also wise to keep in mind that this is not a psychological 'journey', rather it is a step into an astral/inner world that is separate from yourself.
